The Pichés St.Patrick's Day Concert
The London, Ontario band has Rick, his wife Marg, and children Nathan, 15, Matthew, 14, and Aimée, 12. For their Saint Patrick's Day concert at the Moosewood they'll be joined by cousin Robert on flute. The Pichés sing arrangements of traditional folk songs as well as songs composed by Rick. He's especially fond of his song Nellie's Love, which relates a bit of family history about how his grandparents came over from Ireland. Instrumental pieces are celtic jigs and reels played on fiddle, tin whistle, and accordion. The country fiddle standard Orange Blossom Special is admittedly not celtic, but is always slipped in to showcase Matthew's exuberant fiddling.
